In a press conference this morning, Senator Joni Albrecht announced her plans to introduce two major pro-life bills this session: the Nebraska Heartbeat Act and the Nebraska Pregnancy Help Act. Senator Albrecht remarked during the press conference, "These bills are backed by Nebraskans and based in science".
A new statewide poll unveiled at the press conference shows that 58% of Nebraska voters support a law that would protect preborn children from the moment their heartbeat can be detected – including nearly two-thirds of Independents and nearly half of Democrats.
The Nebraska Heartbeat Act would provide babies who have a heartbeat protection under the law from abortion. This legislation would save over 2,000 preborn babies each year in Nebraska. The Nebraska Pregnancy Help Act would incentivize donations towards pregnancy help organizations in Nebraska through the creation of a $10 million tax credit. These pro-life, pro-woman bills are a pivotal opportunity for Nebraskans to show their support for preborn babies and their mothers. The following resources are great ways to learn more.
